The transformation of the Way of Qian (Heaven) progresses from the initial Nine line all the way to the top Nine line\u2014that is what change means. Each line, or &#8220;yao&#8221; (which shares the character for &#8220;effect,&#8221; as in efficacy, effect, or emulation), provides information specific to its position. &#8220;Each finds its correct nature and destiny, preserving perfect harmony; thus, it is beneficial to be steadfast.&#8221; The only imperative is to maintain the right path. &#8220;It emerges first among the myriad things, and all states enjoy peace and order.&#8221; All beginnings stem from Heaven, from the Qian hexagram. &#8220;All states enjoy peace and order&#8221;\u2014every kingdom under Heaven attains tranquility. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In the Kun hexagram, it says, &#8220;Supreme is the origin of Kun (Earth),&#8221; contrasting with the greatness of Qian. While greatness or smallness may imply initiative, here &#8220;supreme&#8221; signifies attainment. &#8220;The origin of Kun gives birth to all things.&#8221; My female friends might recognize this\u2014there\u2019s a company called Shiseido (\u8cc7\u751f\u5802), which connects to beauty and such. In the Qian hexagram, it\u2019s called &#8220;giving beginning,&#8221; while here it\u2019s &#8220;giving birth,&#8221; because when seeds enter the soil, all things sprout and grow. &#8220;It submits to and follows Heaven&#8221;\u2014it follows the Qian hexagram, embodying gentleness and receptivity. But this gentleness is not passive for its own sake. &#8220;The thickness of Kun carries all things,&#8221; as the earth is stable and unwavering. Thus, &#8220;its virtue is boundless.&#8221; Its virtue manifests as nurturing and growth\u2014without boundaries, without limits, without constraints. &#8220;Vast and all-encompassing, it shines brightly; all beings thrive in harmony.&#8221; &#8220;All beings&#8221; echoes &#8220;all states enjoy peace and order&#8221; above\u2014here, &#8220;all beings thrive,&#8221; meaning everything flourishes in a state of perfect harmony.
