On Life and Illness from the Perspective of “Abolishing Medicine”
It has been over 140 years since the scholar Yu Yue published his discourse on “abolishing medicine.” Since the global outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020, the keyword “life” has come to the forefront, prompting us to think about life and illness. Since the birth of humanity, we have been battling diseases, leading to the development of various medical systems across different cultures. From life to illness, to culture, to medicine, this seemingly short sequence of words represents a profound struggle in the vast history of the universe. This allows us to understand more deeply the field of medicine concerning life and illness.Western linear cultural experimental science and Chinese non-linear cultural experiential science both express cultural differences in similar ways.
