DOORM: the thinking mode of OpenAI o1 is similar to what Daniel Kahneman described as “System 2” in his book “Thinking, Fast and Slow,” which is slow, logical thinking. This mode of thinking requires weighing pros and cons before making important decisions. In contrast, “System 1” is fast, intuitive thinking, such as instinctively hitting the brakes when encountering danger while driving. OpenAI o1’s “System 2” thinking mode makes it the first true “reasoning model” launched by OpenAI.
