This seemingly simple question needs to be discussed using the theoretical system of TCM to better understand Chinese culture and TCM. In our discussions, we categorize life as yang, representing the yang in the yin-yang theory of TCM, and categorize illness as yin, representing the material aspect in Chinese culture. Yang represents function, and qi (vital energy) in TCM represents energy. In the organic operation of our life, from the perspective of yin and yang, life is yang, and illness is yin.
