Oriental imagery, and calligraphy is the sunrise of Oriental imagery. I think this suddenly occurred to me because the East is where the sun rises. The art of the East, the core art, the fatal art, the art full of a unique and independent appearance, is calligraphy. Therefore, calligraphy is the bright red sun about to rise on the coastline of Eastern art, and I believe that once this sun rises, it will never set. This is our understanding of this topic. So, you see, how many times have I repeated Confucius’s words, over and over again: “Writing cannot fully express words; words cannot fully express meaning. Therefore, the sage establishes images to fully express meaning.” This world of images, from the moment it was born, from the moment it appeared, from the moment it first interacted with humanity, from the moment images became part of the human world, it has inherently contained codes. These codes are not decipherable all at once; they require endless exploration. Decryption happens in the process of exploration. So, where is our spiritual home? Home is on the road, on the path of continuous journey.
